Back at it again with the winter snowfall! I’m excited to be back on campus, but not so much for the snow. Over the break, I was able to relax with family and friends, refocus my thinking and goals with my mentors, and apply for scholarships and internships. I did receive a scholarship over break, so that allowed me to pay for books this semester and groceries. My time at home was spent doing all the things I love to do which was eating at my favorite restaurants, watching movies, game night and holiday parties with friends and family, and reading and writing.

This semester is a really busy semester for me because I will be volunteering at the Legal Services of Central New York as a part of my Citizenship and Civic Engagement (CCE) major, preparing for Kalabash’s Annual Show, and continuing the search for internships and scholarships. Since I am going to have a lot on my plate this semester, I decided to take an online writing class that is focus on mental health (WRT 205), Black Sexuality (AAS 309), Gender, Militarism, and War (WGS 354), Ethics, Justice, and Citizenship (MAX 301), and Community Placement (MAX 310). So far, my classes have been jam packed with insight into thinking about what it means to be a citizen of America and the history behind citizenship. I’m hoping that these classes will help me to expand my thinking and push me to become a better critical thinker.

My goals this semester are to accomplish a higher GPA, start the foundation of my Action Plan for my CCE major, take a few LSAT prep test, obtain a paid internship for the summer, and to become a better version of myself.

Talk to you guys soon,

Mia Guy
