Why did you decide to attend SU?

I decided to attend SU because it fit all the requirements of what I wanted in a school. It is a great research school with a very strong community sense. I wanted a place that could give me the tools necessary to achieve my goals. At the same time, I knew college was going to be hard, so, I knew how important was to find people that would make this new transition a little bit easier. With the size and diversity of SU, I knew I was going to fit in somewhere among the huge range of personalities, cultures, races, religions and believes. To this day I still think it was a great decision!

Why should students choose to attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

The College of Arts and Science have an amazing variety of courses. It gives students the chance to dive in multiple subjects while still earning credits towards their degree. College is the time when we figure out what do we like and what makes us passionate. Having the chance to educate yourself in different fields without falling behind on your requirements is a privilege that not everyone has.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

Before entering college, I made it a goal to better myself by becoming a more well-rounded scientist. In order to do so, I decided to get involved into research and thus it became a priority for me when looking for colleges. At the end of my search, it was the undergraduate research opportunities, state-of-the-art research instrumentation and the ability to work alongside respected faculty, who have done revolutionary work in their respective fields that made me excited and determined to do research at this renowned institution. As a result, I joined the SU family!

Why should students attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

Apart from the amazing research aspects, the College of Arts and Sciences has a variety of different programs that will allow anyone to find their niche. Such a diverse mix of majors and interests can be overwhelming (it definitely was for me) but the college is there to assist you in narrowing down the program, or programs, you want to be a part of. In addition, the liberal core offers courses that are meant to take you out of your comfort zone but be applicable wherever you might decide to end up in after your college career, making you a versatile individual with skills that will serve you in the future.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

Anytime I was in contact with an SU staff member, alum, or current student while applying, their enthusiasm for the possibility I may join the Orange Family was infectious. This enthusiasm in turn fuels the growth of our extensive and unparalleled alumni network, another key factor in my decision to choose SU.

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

The curriculum that the College of Arts and Sciences provides students the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of subject areas through classes that are the perfect mix of academic and professional components. Not only do students grow skills such as critical thinking and analytical writing that are the cornerstones of a well-rounded liberal arts education, but they learn how to market these skills effectively to employers.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

I chose to attend Syracuse University because it provided me with the quality education I desired, the student/faculty relationship I wanted, and the open, friendly, school-pride filled environment every college should have.

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

The College of Arts and Sciences is the heart and soul of Syracuse University. With many majors across different fields, it's the perfect playground to discover your passions, your ambitions, what you like and even what you don't like. The core gives you the ability to take classes outside of your major, leading to new possibilities while exposing you to more faculty and peers from across the University. Believe me, I have three majors!

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

I decided to attend SU because it emanated a school spirit unlike any other university I visited. The Orange pride was palpable not only at sporting events, but also all the other times the campus came together as a community. I was attracted to the size of SU, because coming from a small high school I was looking for a large university experience that wouldn’t be overwhelming. Not yet certain of what I wanted to study, I loved the breadth of opportunities that SU offers, including those for studying abroad. The university has esteemed faculty from all disciplines, and the schools that interested me are well-regarded. Upstate NY also has some truly beautiful places to explore!

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

The College of Arts and Sciences is truly the heart of Syracuse University, as the oldest and largest school on campus. It offers many different majors and minors, leading to a student body that is diverse both in terms of our studies and cultural heritages. I feel very much at home within the CAS community and through my classes have fostered close bonds with students and faculty. My liberal arts degree has opened my mind in ways I never expected, and I know that it will serve me well when I enter the workforce this spring!

Students should join the College of Arts and Sciences because of the diversity of the students within it and the numerous opportunities available. It is the largest college within the university, which makes it unique, and an even better reason to be a part of it.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

I chose to come to SU because of all of the opportunities that the school had to offer. I did a campus tour in the fall and absolutely fell in love with the campus. After my tour not only did I know I wanted to come here but I knew I wanted to be a tour guide, which ended up actually happening. I loved how passionate the students were about their school but also their academics here. My tour guides were so excited about all that they were achieving here and I knew it was an environment where I could really thrive in and become my best self.

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

Coming into college I had no idea what I wanted to major in and eventually do in life. I knew that joining the College of Arts and Sciences would allow me the best opportunity to explore different fields to figure out what I was passionate about. It ended up being science however my favorite class at SU is a maxwell course which I was introduced to though an arts and sciences advisor. As much as I love my science classes I also love how the college encourages students to broaden their knowledge through the core. I think students should choose the college of arts and sciences because it allows students to take classes they may not have thought of taking prior to coming to SU. I believe this college truly encourages students to discover that there is so much more out there than just the classes surrounding your major.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

SU was not on my radar for colleges because I thought the five-hour drive from home was too far. I only applied because College Board suggested it as a similar school to Boston University. I believe my eventual decision to apply to and attend Syracuse was one of those situations where you don’t know what’s good for you until it’s placed in front of you. Being at Syracuse instead of Boston allowed me to really experience independence as well grow as a person. Syracuse University as an institution has shaped me in more ways than I can express. However, Syracuse University wouldn’t be what it has been to me without the College of Arts and Sciences.

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

The College exposed me to different subjects and so many different students, all studying a wide range of subjects. Unlike other colleges, in the College of Arts and Sciences you’re able to grow from the diverse course requirements, as well as the diverse group of students enrolled in the College. As a biology major, I can say that I would have never expected to find an interest in art, but through a course I took my freshman year I developed an understanding and appreciation for modern art and now, unfortunately for my wallet, I’ve collected several pieces I’ve come across since that freshman art course. Beyond offering the resources to grow as a person, the College of Arts and Sciences has an extremely dedicated faculty and staff who will work with you as often as you need to ensure your academic and professional success. I personally have always been able to find help whether it be for a class material, or for academic advising and career planning. I am glad to say there are professors I feel comfortable approaching to ask the age old question – “what should I do after graduation?” – as I have done probably too many times at this point. The College of Arts and Sciences is by far the best college to attend for personal growth, as well as preparation for the real world.

Why did you decide to attend Syracuse?

I chose to go to Syracuse University because as I walked across the campus when I was a senior in high school visiting on a beautiful Spring day, each step I took on campus inspired me. It inspired me to make a mark that so many other people have done while they were students at Syracuse University and later on in life. Walking in those footsteps, it inspired me that I too could create an impact at not only Syracuse University, but also on the world after I graduate.

Why students should attend the College of Arts and Sciences?

I believe the liberal arts create a wide diversity of knowledge and skills that are necessary in life after school. Due to the diverse courses that the college offers, it allows a student to dive into a world they may not have known of before such as Communication Sciences and Disorders or the world of Anthropology. A unique liberal arts core allows this diversity and has been the most enriching part of my four year college career here.
